ASA Victoria Accordion Video Competition 2026
As part of the 2026 Accordion Festival, the Accordion Society of Australia (Victoria) invites accordionists from across Australia and New Zealand to participate in the ASA Victoria Accordion Video Competition.
Whether you're taking your first steps on the accordion or have decades of performance experience, this competition is an opportunity to share your music, showcase your creativity, and celebrate your passion for the instrument with a wider audience.
Open to accordionists aged 16 years and over, the competition welcomes solo performers and groups, with categories designed to ensure fair and meaningful competition across all skill levels.
Participating is a chance to challenge yourself, gain recognition for your achievements, connect with the accordion community, and become part of the 2026 Accordion Festival celebrations.

The winner may also receive a complimentary invitation to attend the 2026 or future ASA Victoria Accordion Festival event. The invitation covers festival admission only and does not include travel, accommodation, meals, or any other associated expenses.
Eligibility
The competition is open to:
Individuals aged 16 years and over
Musicians of all skill levels
Solo performers and groups
Residents of Australia and New Zealand
Skill categories
Please enter in one category only:
Beginner: Up to 2 years of playing experience
Intermediate: 3-5 years of playing experience
Advanced: 6-10 years of playing experience
Expert: 11+ years of playing experience or professional/semi-professional performers
Years of playing experience should be calculated based on the total time spent learning and performing on the accordion. The organisers reserve the right to reassign entrants to a more appropriate category if required.
Competition requirements
To enter, create a video that:
Is no longer than 3 minutes
Features an accordion prominently
Includes original accordion audio as a key component of the performance
Is posted online on or after 27 June 2026
Complies with all competition requirements and applicable platform guidelines

Offensive, inappropriate, or unlawful content will be disqualified

How to enter
Step 1: Create your video
Record a video of up to 3 minutes in length that showcases the accordion as a central part of the performance.
Step 2: Upload your video
Upload your video to your own preferred platform, such as:

Step 3: Submit your entry
Submit your entry by using the ‘Contact us’ form on the ASA website (select ‘VIC’ as the state) and include:
Your name
Skill category
Contact details
Your location (Australia or New Zealand)
Link to your video

To help your entry stand out:
Use a vertical video format where possible
Multi-take edits are welcome
Captions, graphics, and text overlays are permitted
Ensure audio quality is clear
Entries should be authentic, original, and clearly showcase the accordion.
Judging
Entries will be assessed by an independent panel of judges with relevant musical expertise.
Each entry will be scored against the following criteria:
Musicality and expression: 25%
Creativity and interpretation: 25%
Technical ability: 25%
Overall presentation: 25%
Entries will be judged within their selected skill category to ensure fairness.
Judges will declare any conflicts of interest, and affected entries will be assessed impartially by other members of the panel.
All judging decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
